    The Three Turnings of the Wheel of Dharma

An immersive, three year training sharing the teachings of the Buddha and the three turnings of the wheel of dharma including study of The Four Noble Truths, The Heart Sutra and the Teaching of Vajrayana.

The course will focus on methods and practices that integrate the Buddha’s teachings to awaken an enduring spiritual life of harmony, peace and purpose.

Objectives / Outcomes

  • Implement the teachings of The Four Noble Truths into your everyday life
  • Identify destructive emotions of the mind and begin to pacify or understand their root cause
  • Comprehend the teachings of the Noble 8 Fold Path
  • Understand the causes of suffering and learn the steps to overcome them
  • Have tools in place for a daily meditation practice
  • Teach shamatha meditation to others

Teachings Methods / Learning Experiences

  • Daily: Each day you are expected to meditate. We will learn shamatha meditation and the 8 steps of shamatha as well as how to sit and how to work with thoughts when they arise in meditation.
  • Weekly: Each week you are expected to have a group call or meeting with the members of your small group sangha to discuss the weeks dharma and answer the questions posted in the lecture.
  • Bi-yearly: Twice a year we will host a retreat to deepen the practice experience, participation can be virtual or in-person.
  • Teaching: Near the end of the first year you will begin teaching shamatha meditation in small groups and on recorded videos.

  • Comprehend the 37 vows of a Bodhisattva
  • Instill a confident faith in daily meditation practice
  • Recite The Heart Sutra prayer from memory
  • Recite The Heart Sutra Mantra
  • Work with the 6 paramitas in daily life
  • Take Green Tara empowerment
  • Understand and begin practicing the Green Tara Sadhana

Teachings Methods / Learning Experiences

  • Daily: Each day you are expected to meditate and recite mantra
  • Weekly: Each week you are expected to have a group call or meeting with the members of your sangha.
  • Bi-yearly: Twice a year we will host a retreat to deepen the practice experience, participation can be virtual or in-person.
  • Teaching: Near the end of the year you will begin teaching tong-len and metta meditation in small groups and on recorded videos.

  • Daily: Each day you are expected to practice what has been learned in years 1 & 2
  • Monthly: Book club style discussion based on the readings
  • Bi-yearly: Twice a year we will host a retreat to deepen the practice experience, participation can be virtual or in-person.
