Finding Treasure

Imagine stumbling upon a buried treasure of immeasurable value. That’s exactly what happened to me! Even now, I’m still amazed by it, often asking myself, “Why me?” The journey began during my junior year of college, when I was just a curious young man who came across an ancient world map. I studied it every day, memorizing the path that would lead to the treasure, preparing myself for a quest I knew could take lifetimes.

I quickly realized that embarking on this journey would require physical and mental stamina beyond anything I’d experienced. So, I trained. Every morning, I worked on strengthening my body, and sharpening my mind. Despite being on my own, I had faith. I had read in my studies that when the seeker is truly ready, the guide will appear. It sounded a little far-fetched, but who was I to question such ancient wisdom? I simply trusted that when the time was right, my guide would come.

At first, I tried to rush the process, searching for a guide on my own, but without success. I soon learned that I had to be patient. And then, over 20 years ago, it happened. I met Khenpo Lama Migmar, who showed me the path to the treasure of Buddhist teachings. When I say this treasure is immeasurable, I truly mean it. No amount of worldly wealth could ever compare to the happiness and peace that come from following the teachings of the Buddha.

Now, I’m incredibly grateful to spend an entire weekend with my esteemed guide, Khenpo Lama Migmar, during a retreat in Miami. From March 14th-16th, 2025 we will explore Buddhist teachings, practice yoga asana, and meditate together. For me, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dive deeper into the sacred path that leads to boundless happiness.
